‘Artist as Curator’ Symposium: ‘About?’ – Willem de Rooij in conversation with Pablo Lafuente
Video documentation of the Afterall ‘Artist as Curator’ symposium. ‘About?’ – Willem de Rooij in conversation with Pablo Lafuente.
In 2010, Willem de Rooij exhibited ‘Intolerance’ at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The show brought together bird portraits made by Melchior d’Hondecoeter in the seventeenth century with feathered ceremonial objects made in the eighteenth century in Hawaii (hats, heads and cloaks). In his presentation on the exhibition, and in a later conversation with Pablo Lafuente, de Rooij addresses selection, juxtaposition, research, display, installation, collage… – some of the issues that can be discussed around (or about) the exhibition.
