A Cascading World of Porosity

Departing from Lotus L. Kang’s exhibition ‘In Cascades’ (2023) at Chisenhale Gallery in London, Hyunjin Kim explores how the artist’s dialogic practice straddles form, materiality, spatial speculation and identity while deferring their immediate interpretation. Like the lotus root with their layers of overlapping perforations, Kang’s poetic installations are porous spaces in which diasporic memories seep and flow.
